January 2006 saw the launch of the Arigna Leader led "Renewable Energy Support Programme", specifically designed to assist local community based and profit making businesses overcome the barriers associated with the development and installation of renewable technologies. This project is funded by the Irish Central Border Area Interreg IIIA Partnership (ICBAN) through the EU INTERREG IIIA Programme Ireland/Northern Ireland. The Renewable Energy Support Programme has appointed two full time staff members, one based in Arigna Leader and one based in WREAN, to provide support and technical advice to local businesses in the central cross border area seeking to develop a Renewable Energy Project. Paula Keelagher has over 10 years experience
in the energy field having been involved in the development of the first
